On Monday April 5, 2021, the Farragut boys soccer team faced the Webb School of Knoxville’s boys soccer team at home. Two very talented and driven teams faced off, giving this game everything they had. However, despite a strong fight, Farragut unfortunately lost to Webb.

Senior soccer player, Timi Omitaomu, shared his sentiments regarding the team’s loss this past Monday.

“Webb is a very talented team, and we knew from the start that it would be a dog fight,” stated Omitaomu.

Webb put up a strong fight against the Admirals.

“They knew a win against Farragut would be very meaningful, and they put their 110% effort towards that goal, and it’s very difficult to combat a team that has so much drive and heart like that,” said Omitaomu.

Although Farragut did lose, they put up a great fight, ending the game with a score of 2-1. Omitaomu stated that he was proud of the team’s effort, despite the outcome. However, he also stated there is still room for improvement.

“As a team, we need to improve staying connected with each other: There were moments in the game where we panicked and lost our structure, making us susceptible to counterattacks,” said Omitaomu.

The team is still extremely optimistic about the rest of their season and postseason. They are convinced that their hard work carried them through their last game, and will continue to do so.

“Having that resilience and grit is crucial to finding success in the postseason, and to see it among us this early is very encouraging,” stated Omitaomu.

The team has taken notes from this loss, and will carry the lessons and skills learned in Monday’s game into games in the future. Omitaomu himself took some important lessons and reminders from this game.

“Personally, I was reminded of how in soccer, the ball doesn’t simply bounce your way all the time: as a player, you have to take it as it is, and move forward,” Omitaomu said.

Senior and dedicated soccer fan, Anna Cales, was there to support the Admirals this past Monday. She said that she was proud of the team and expected great things for the rest of the season.

“I really enjoyed going to the game, and the Farragut student section was very engaged and supportive,” said Cales.

Farragut’s players and students are still inspired and optimistic about the rest of their season despite their loss on Monday. With hard work, determination, and a supportive student section the Admirals can expect many wins from the team throughout the rest of the season. Go support the Admirals in a hopeful win tonight at home: the junior varsity team plays at 5 p.m. and the varsity plays at 7 p.m.
