Lady Vols New Basketball Season

Lady Vols New Basketball Season

The Lady Vols played their first game against Carson Newman and won 70-44. Their next game will be an away game against ETSU. The last time they played ETSU was in December 2018, and the Lady Vols won 80-61. This season they have a new coach named Kellie Harper. Harper was hired to replace Holly Warlick in April of this year.  Harper was once a Lady Volunteer, and she had Pat Summitt as her coach. With her background, it seems fitting that she has the new position as head coach for the team.

With the new season starting, the Lady Vols are predicted to finish 6th in the SEC. They finished 19-13 last season and were eighth in the league standings at 7-9. The top 5 projected to finish ahead of the Lady Vols include South Carolina in first, which is followed by Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Kentucky, and Arkansas. There are high expectations for the leader of the team, Rennia Davis, who is known for being one of the best players in all the SEC. Many have made comments on how they think the Lady Vols’ performance will be this year.

“I think they will do great, and I expect the best out of the Lady Vols this year,” said Lady Vols fan Eugene Lee.

Many speculations have been made on if the Lady Vols will pull through and do even better than the previous year. With the new coach, fans are hoping that this can be a positive change for the Vols.
