Is LeBron James Still in His Prime?

LeBron James is a well known, professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers. Arguably one of the best players of today, James has played in the NBA for a total of 17 seasons. Some people say he has gotten old, and that he is on the decline of his career. Others, say he is still the best in the league today.

James is currently leading the Lakers to defeat the Portland Trail Blazers in round one of the NBA playoffs, averaging 25.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 10.2 assists per game. In his 2012-2013 season, which is well known as the start of his prime, he averaged 26.8 points, 8 rebounds, and 7.3 assists. Lebron’s hard, physical style of play can seriously wear down a man’s body over the years. However, LeBron is still putting up his prime numbers and currently leading his team through the playoffs.

According to Shaun Powell via NBA website, “He is LeBron James… until he isn’t,” says Doc Rivers, head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers. “He is winning against time, and therefore, he is … cheating time.”

Powell also talked to Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins, and he said, “Nobody knows when it’ll happen to him because he’s still playing in the air. And even when that goes, his basketball IQ will allow him to stay great on the ground. I mean, who gets triple doubles at his age? Only he knows when his time is up.”

LeBron has played over 57,000 minutes in the regular season throughout his career, which is 4th in all time behind Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone and Kobe Bryant. With no sign of retiring any time soon, LeBron is more than on pace to take over the all time scoring record.

Powell also talked to LeBron himself, “I put in the work and I trust everything that I’ve done, especially this offseason,” James said. “I’ve come in with a great mindset, with a healthy mindset and a healthy body.” When LeBron was asked what he does to keep his body healthy and avoid injury over a long period of time he said, “Fine wine.” James doesn’t want anyone learning his secrets.
