CAK, Christian Academy of Knoxville, starts this week being 9-0 with all victories over teams in Tennessee. Last Friday they faced off against one of their rival schools, Grace Christian Academy, with a win of 42-21. One of CAK’s running backs, JD Dunn, a junior at CAK, got nominated for 5 Star Preps player of the week. He ended the game with a total of 35 carries, 305 total yards, and 4 touchdowns over Grace. While interviewing JD Dunn about his games he stated,

“I’m not gonna lie, I did feel like a lot of people were sleeping on me. I feel like a lot of people doubt me because of my size and my height, but I feel like it does not matter about your height and your size, if you can ball, you can ball,” said Dunn.

This Friday, October 30th, CAK will have an away game against another one of their rivals, Webb School of Knoxville.

5 Star Preps says, “If CAK plays next Friday like it did this Friday against Grace, you got to like their chances to move 10-0.”

Based on statistics from 5 Star Preps, CAK has a player in almost every statistical category from players in Knoxville. For rushing yards, Dunn is 4th with 1,119 rushing yards, for rushing touchdowns Dunn is 13th with 11 rushing touchdowns, Ryan Deggs is 21st for passing touchdowns, for receiving yards Grant Sterchi and Caleb Sparkman have 358 and 250, for receiving touchdowns Grant Sterchi has 7, for tackles Luke Myers has 85 tackles, Knox Woidtke 67 tackles, Grant Sterchi 58 tackles, Logan Sims 58 tackles, and Noah Olsen 53 tackles. Middle linebacker Luke Myers leads the defense with 92 tackles, 2 interceptions, 3 sacks, 1 defense touchdown, and 2 forced fumbles.

“Some of these games can be based purely off of defense. You have to be ready and have your head in the game,” said Myers.

Most of the players on the CAK team are juniors, so they hope for an even better season next year!
