England Takes a Win Over Poland


Saturday, March 27th  at the Arena Kombetare, England won over Albania in World Cup Qualifiers 2-0. 

Harry Kane scored his first England goal since 2019 and also provided an assist for Mason Mount, who has now assisted or scored in three consecutive matches for England. 

After a rocky start to the first half, this helped to set the foundation for a more positive second half.

¨I thought it was a really good performance. Maybe a little bit slow at the start – we changed our formation halfway through the first half [from 4-2-3-1 to 4-1-4-1] and that definitely helpedKane told, The Guardian. ¨I thought we controlled the second half well, so overall it’s been a good night.¨

In the 63rd minute, Albania gifted away possession, and shortly after, Kane slipped a pass over to Mount who then made his shot past Etrit Berisha, Albania´s keeper. 

“[Mount] is an exceptional player, he finds space intelligently, he manipulates the ball very well, he creates chances and he scores goals,” Gareth Southgate, England´s coach, told ESPN. 

From then on, England was ¨in cruise control¨ according to ESPN.

After this win, England is continuing on their strong start to the World Cup Qualifiers, but will face a challenge during their match tonight, Wednesday March 31st, against their rival, Poland.
